چکیده

Abstract The phase-field formulation for fracture based on the framework of representative crack elements is extended to transient thermo-mechanics. finite element derived starting from variational principle total virtual power. intention this manuscript demonstrate potential multi-physical models and complex processes inside crack. present model at hand allows predict realistic deformation kinematics heat fluxes cracks. At application fully coupled, thermo-elasticity a pre-cracked plate, opened yields thermal isolation between both parts plate. Inhomogeneous strains result in curved surface, inhomogeneous recontact finally flow through regions contact. novel further study crack, which demonstrated by radiation surfaces. Finally, numerically calculated paths disc subjected shock load are compared experimental results literature three-dimensional presented.

The Fracture Mechanics Concept of Creep and Creep/Fatigue Crack Growth in Life Assessment

There is an increasing need to assess the service life of components containing defect which operate at high temperature. This paper describes the current fracture mechanics concepts that are employed to predict cracking of engineering materials at high temperatures under static and cyclic loading. The relationship between these concepts and those of high temperature life assessment methods is ...

Laws of crack motion and phase-field models of fracture

Recently proposed phase-field models offer self-consistent descriptions of brittle fracture. Here, we analyze these theories in the quasistatic regime of crack propagation. We show how to derive the laws of crack motion either by using solvability conditions in a perturbative treatment for slight departure from the Griffith threshold, or by generalizing the Eshelby tensor to phase-field models....

Fracture Mechanics Analyses for Interface Crack Problems – a Review

Recent developments in fracture mechanics analyses of the interfacial crack problem are reviewed. The intent of the review is to renew the awareness of the oscillatory singularity at the crack tip of a bimaterial interface and the problems that occur when calculating mode mixity using numerical methods such as the finite element method in conjunction with the virtual crack closure technique. Es...

Part A- Experimental: Experimental Analysis of Crack Propagation in Pre-stressed Concrete Sleepers by Fracture Mechanics

This study investigates propagation of mode I crack in B70 pre-stressed concrete sleepers by fracture mechanics approach. A new experimental analysis is done for notched B70 pre-stressed concrete sleepers with Replica test and image analysis. A scanning electron microscope test (SEM) and an image analysis are applied for the Replica test in order to determine crack length and crack mouth openin...

Compressive Stresses near Crack Tip Induced by Thermo-Electric Field

In this paper, the thermo-electro-structural coupledfield in a cracked metal plate is studied using the finite element analysis. From the computational results, the compressive stresses reveal near the crack tip. This conclusion agrees with the past reference. Furthermore, the compressive condition can retard and stop the crack growth during the Joule heating process. Keywords—Compressive stres...
